Regional field notes

Levels 1–20

Golden grassland plateaus and white limestone citadels where the ancient resonant roads still hum beneath the hooves of proud knightly orders.

The heartland of the Solaris Bastion is a welcoming yet dramatic expanse of tiered grasslands, terraced olive and sun-grain farms, and towering white limestone cliffs that step down toward the western Churn. Ancient aqueducts of pale stone and bronze carry shimmering golden water from the peaks of Mount Aethel to power village mills and resonant chimes. High Solitude stands proudly upon the marble terraces of old Alabaster Reach.

Though long the safest region on Kaelvorn, the Steppe is now under intense pressure. Deep fissures have cracked open across the southern pastures, releasing aggressive subterranean crystal-boars, while vanguard scouts of the Pale Wake have begun landing on the northern coastal cliffs.

        The Sunken Bell-Foundry

Two hundred years ago, this cavernous subterranean foundry cast the replacement bells for the western Chime-Spires—until a sudden underground flood drowned the lower halls. Recently, the water level dropped after a nearby earthquake, revealing that a cell of rogue Syndicate scavengers and awakened bronze constructs are fighting over an intact Architect Prime-Mold at the bottom of the pit. Players must navigate giant waterwheels, redirect rivers of molten bronze to clear flooded passages, and silence malfunctioning sonic hammers.

        The Toll-Lion of Dawn-Watch

a brass-maned lion the height of a bell-tower whose roar rings the Beacon and pulls every nearby Chime-Post into the fight.

A colossal, broad-shouldered rectangle of a man standing nearly eight feet tall, with a wide, grounded stance dominated by an oversized curved tower shield on his left arm and a heavy flanged mace in his right hand; three short brass chime-pipes rise vertically from the back of his pauldrons.

A weathered, noble Korvath face in his late fifties with skin the color and texture of chiseled slate-grey granite; a square jaw with a neat, braided beard of silver-white hair bound in gold clasps; warm, glowing amber eyes; a deep vertical chip across his left brow like carved stone.

Layered plates of burnished gold-bronze and polished ivory-white enamel over a dark cobalt-blue quilted gambeson; his left forearm gauntlet is missing, revealing a hand and wrist transformed into smooth, glowing white porcelain veined with silver cracks.

Burnished Gold, Ivory White, Cobalt Blue, and Slate Grey.

Toll of Aethel, a five-foot tall concave tower shield cast from thick green-patina bell-bronze with a raised golden sun-rose embossing at its center, paired with Gavel of the Tenth Chord, a heavy brass-headed war-mace whose hollow core glows with liquid orange Sun-Pitch.

Planted in a low, wide defensive brace, left foot forward, driving the bottom spike of his giant bell-shield into the ground while drawing back his glowing war-mace to strike the inner rim of his own shield like a gong.

Concentric, rippling rings of translucent golden-amber light and visible musical staff-lines that expand outward along the ground from his shield, leaving warm, glowing geometric ward-runes burned into the earth beneath his boots.

        Valen Korr — The Bell-Warden

A tall, regal human woman in her early thirties with dark espresso skin, high cheekbones, and a braided crown of platinum-blonde hair, clad in sleek, aerodynamic white-and-gold fluted plate armor with a cape of cobalt-blue feathers; she is captured suspended in mid-air above a cliff edge, both hands gripping a twelve-foot spiral lance of burnished gold and glowing amber glass aimed downward as two blazing wings of geometric sunlight unfurl from her shoulder-guards.

        Ness Quin — The Dawn-Lancer

A daring sky-cavalry captain of High Solitude who leaps from the backs of feathered coursers with a twelve-foot prism-lance, piercing the storm from above on wings of solid golden light.
